TRACE at CityMinds Summer School: Sharing Innovation in Sustainable Urban Logistics

Date: July 2, 2025
Location: Thessaloniki, Greece

Last week, the TRACE project was proud to be represented at the 4th CityMinds Summer School, a prestigious event organized by the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT) of CERTH, in collaboration with the Laboratory of Supply Chain Management (LASCM/AUTh) and supported by EIT Urban Mobility.

With this year’s theme “Empowering Innovation & Entrepreneurship Knowledge Towards Urban Mobility Transformation,” the summer school brought together a dynamic audience of students, researchers, and professionals from across Greece and Europe. The program featured interactive workshops, site visits, and expert talks focused on the future of digital supply chains, smart mobility, and sustainable logistics.

As part of the educational programme, Panagiotis Kanellopoulos from our partner, ACS Courier delivered a dedicated 45-minute lecture introducing the TRACE project, including an overview of its objectives and insights from the Greek pilot activities. His presentation focused on real-world innovations in last-mile logistics, including:

    • Implementation of microhubs and mobile depots
    • Use of digital platforms and robotics to enhance operational efficiency
    • Application of data analytics for informed decision-making in urban delivery networks

The session also highlighted synergies with the GREEN-LOG project, emphasizing the Horizon Europe programme’s support for experimentation, innovation, and stakeholder collaboration.

Engaging the Next Generation

The event provided an excellent opportunity to engage a highly relevant audience — with 30–50 participants attending in person, alongside a virtual audience. Most attendees came from logistics-related academic backgrounds, representing the next generation of professionals shaping urban mobility solutions. The event was recorded, further extending its dissemination reach within the European innovation ecosystem.

Strengthening TRACE’s Presence in Europe

By sharing practical insights from its pilot work and showcasing the project’s contributions to sustainable last-mile logistics, TRACE continues to strengthen its presence and relevance within the broader European mobility and innovation landscape.

We extend our thanks to EIT Urban Mobility, CERTH/HIT, and all organisers for the opportunity to contribute, and to the participants for their thoughtful engagement throughout the event.
