TRACE Project

Can you tell us a bit about your company and its core mission?

AV Living Lab is an SME that develops new mobility solutions. We were founded as a cross-industry City as a Lab ecosystem. Over the years, we have evolved into a company that provides tailored research, development and deployment solutions for sustainable mobility.

What specific role does your company play in the TRACE project?

AV Living Lab joined forces with Slovenian partners from academia (University of Maribor) and the logistics industry (Slovenian Post) to test beyond state-of-the-art solutions, such as consolidation centres and autonomous delivery.

Our role in the TRACE project involves implementing and testing autonomous vehicle technologies within urban logistics frameworks, where we will provide expertise in using unmanned vehicles. Additionally, we are involved in user requirements gathering tasks and preparation of guidelines for authorities.

What is your long-term vision for the TRACE project?

Our long-term vision for the TRACE project is to set a new standard for the logistics industry. We believe that TRACE has a great potential to transform the industry by reducing operational costs, minimising environmental impact, and implementing autonomous logistic operations across Europe.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of being part of the TRACE project?

Working with partners from different countries and industries helps us understand what stakeholders want from the future logistics platform. This collaboration helps us think in new ways and innovate in the TRACE project.

In your opinion, what are the most important values that the TRACE project embodies?

Based on feedback from the logistics company, the TRACE project is solving the most important issues: cost management, green transition support, and workforce automation solutions to address the shortage of skilled workers.

What are the next steps for your company within the TRACE project?

As TRACE progresses, we will proceed to pilots in our Living Lab ecosystem. Additionally, we are actively encouraging dialogue with the local and national government to ensure that the legislation and rules can lead to new business models and market opportunities that extend beyond the project’s initial scope.

What personally excites you the most about the TRACE project?

The most exciting aspect of the TRACE project is the opportunity to pioneer autonomous logistics in Slovenia. Being part of a project that sets new industry standards and creates tangible, positive impacts is very motivating.
