Short Profile

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA, http://www.uoa.gr/) started operations on May 1837. It was the first university in Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean in general. Presently, NKUA has five Schools and a total of twenty-nine Departments located in four campuses near the centre of Athens. Full-time undergraduate enrolment exceeds 45,000 students. NKUA participates in TRACE through the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications (DIT). DIT (http://www.di.uoa.gr/eng) was founded in 1989. The Department has 39 faculty members and over 200 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. DIT will participate in the project through the Network Technologies, Services and Applications (NETSA) Laboratory 

Role in TRACE

NKUA is the coordinator of TRACE. In this context, NKUA is leading the project management activities (T1.1), the quality management and risk analysis (T1.2) the coordination with external advisor board and stakeholders (T1.4), and the Data and IPR Management (T1.5). 

As WP4 Leader, NKUA is coordinating the technical implementation of the TRACE Infrastructure and Ecosystem. NKUA is also leading the activities related to the management of resources and sensors (T4.1) and infrastructural interfaces and communications (T4.2). Finally, NKUA is leading T2.4 Transportation and Sensor Requirements.
