Gazometro Ostiense, Rome, 17–19 October 2025
Maker Faire Rome 2025 once again transformed the Italian capital into a vibrant hub of creativity, technology, and innovation. As one of Europe’s largest innovation fairs, the event gathered more than 30,000 visitors and showcased over 380 projects from 30+ countries, turning the Gazometro Ostiense into a “living lab” for ideas shaping tomorrow’s world.
Engaging the Public in Smarter Mobility
Our partner UNIMORE proudly represented the TRACE project at this year’s edition, engaging with a diverse mix of visitors — from city officials, logistics operators, and researchers to curious citizens of all ages.
At our stand, we showcased the TRACE Italian use case and the Cargo Bike prototype, sparking engaging conversations around how intelligent optimization tools like TRACE could help tackle the complex logistics challenges of hyper-congested cities such as Rome.
Visitors and professionals alike showed strong interest in how TRACE could improve urban mobility efficiency. Many asked insightful questions about system performance, infrastructure integration, deployment costs, and data requirements, helping us gather valuable qualitative feedback for future development.
Building New Connections and Future Opportunities
Beyond the public engagement, the event was also an excellent networking opportunity. We connected with event organizers and dissemination partners interested in promoting TRACE’s Italian case in upcoming technology and innovation events — including those supported by major industry players such as Google and Amazon. These new relationships could open up significant pathways for further dissemination and collaboration in 2026.
Why Maker Faire Matters for TRACE
Maker Faire Rome was chosen as a key dissemination venue because of its wide-reaching, multidisciplinary audience — spanning academia, industry, startups, public institutions, and citizens.
Participating in such a high-visibility event helped TRACE:
- Reach tens of thousands of people beyond the traditional mobility and transport research communities.
- Collect real-world insights from stakeholders in logistics and city management.
- Enhance its visibility within innovation ecosystems and the broader public narrative on intelligent mobility.
A Step Forward in Public Awareness and Impact
By participating in Maker Faire Rome 2025, TRACE strengthened its outreach and impact, building bridges between research, innovation, and society. The strong engagement and feedback received underline the growing public interest in smarter, more sustainable logistics solutions — a clear signal that TRACE’s vision is both timely and relevant for the cities of tomorrow.
