TRACE featured in Logistics Management Magazine – Exploring the Future of Synchromodal Logistics

TRACE is proud to be featured in the latest issue of Logistics Management (Issue No. 250), Greece’s longest-running and most respected logistics publication. In an opinion article titled “The Future of Logistics is Collaborative, Green, and Intelligent: Synchromodality”, Dr. Ioannis Neokosmidis, CEO of InCites Consulting S.A., explores the transformative role of synchromodality in addressing current and future challenges in the transport and logistics sector.

As global supply chains face growing complexity, rising fuel costs, and increasing environmental pressures, synchromodality is emerging as a key solution. It enables real-time, flexible transport mode decisions based on current conditions, helping reduce operational costs, improve service quality, and lower emissions.

Dr. Neokosmidis emphasizes the critical role of advanced technologies in enabling this shift — including IoT, AI, blockchain, digital twins, autonomous vehicles, and 5G connectivity — while also stressing the need for a new culture of collaboration and transparency across the logistics ecosystem.

TRACE is highlighted in the article as a leading European initiative advancing these goals. The project is developing a fully connected, multimodal platform for real-time transport coordination, designed to support greener, more resilient, and data-driven logistics operations. Unlike traditional systems, TRACE promotes dynamic routing, cross-sector cooperation, and efficient use of infrastructure and resources.

“TRACE aims to redefine logistics networks through interoperability, decision support based on real-time data, and the creation of a collaborative framework for stakeholders across the value chain.” — Dr. Ioannis Neokosmidis
