TRACE Project

TRACE Showcased at EARPA’s FORM Forum 2025 in Brussels

Brussels, 30 September – 1 October 2025

The TRACE project was presented at EARPA’s FORM Forum 2025, one of Europe’s leading gatherings for road mobility and automotive research. The event brought together researchers, industry representatives, policymakers, and innovation stakeholders from across the European automotive community.

Representing TRACE, Alessio Masola (UNIM) delivered a dynamic pitch focused on the Italian use case B, which explores platooning — a coordinated driving concept enabling multiple vehicles to travel closely together to improve efficiency, safety, and traffic flow.

During the presentation, Alessio introduced the overarching TRACE concept, outlined the methodology behind the Italian pilot, and highlighted its benefits and scalability potential across European contexts. The session drew an audience of around 100 participants, including members of the EARPA network, and sparked lively discussions on the future of connected and automated mobility.

Following the pitch, the TRACE team engaged in informal discussions and networking with interested stakeholders. Feedback from participants included insightful questions on scalability, infrastructure compatibility, regulatory frameworks, and cross-border deployment — demonstrating strong engagement and curiosity about TRACE’s innovative approach.

Strengthening TRACE’s Impact in the European R&I Community

Participation in the FORM Forum was strategically significant for TRACE. The event is recognized as a key meeting point for European road transport research, connecting academia, industry, and policymakers — the exact ecosystem TRACE aims to influence.

As a result of the presentation:

  • TRACE gained high-visibility exposure to an audience of approximately 80–100 professionals from across Europe.
  • The project attracted interest from several research institutions, including KIT University and the CARISSMA Institute, both expressing interest in potential collaboration.
  • CARISSMA has since continued active engagement, exploring future synergies in joint studies and proposals.

Beyond networking, the event reinforced TRACE’s credibility and relevance within the European mobility research landscape. The discussions helped identify new opportunities for cooperation and inspired further exploration of scalable, interoperable platooning solutions for future transport systems.

Looking Ahead

The successful participation at EARPA’s FORM Forum 2025 marked an important step in building awareness and partnerships for TRACE. By connecting with Europe’s foremost automotive R&I community, TRACE continues to position itself as a driver of innovation in connected, automated, and sustainable mobility.
